30 before 30… the complete list.

Tuesday 1st June 2010

You’ll note some things aren’t ‘specific’ yet, and the last few are left blank… any comments and/or suggestions are more than welcome, please send them over!

(and, in true blab-tastic fashion, I couldn’t simply write out the list… I had to elaborate each point and carry on, and on.  :) Enjoy!)

  1. Learn to waltz.  Such a lovely, lost art.
  2. Read a classic.
  3. See a classic (suggestions for these – please!)
  4. Learn to sew.  Another lost art.  I feel like it’s something I should, as a woman, wife, and mother, know how to do.
  5. Find volunteer position. Something I can do once a week/month to help someone less fortunate… suggestions welcome
  6. Go vegetarian for a month.
  7. Scrapbook my wedding.  It’s only been four years. Ha.
  8. Become techy.   I am a self-proclaimed computer & technology idiot.  It’s bad, mes amies. I can barely work my own TV.  (who invented all that HDMI crap anyway?)  It would be funny if it wasn’t so embarrassing. Alas, I’m tired of cornering poor Hubbs and forcing him into explaining some common-knowledge computer bit that he’s no doubt already explained to me 63 times before, (and I’m sure it’s no picnic for him either) so I’ve decided to find some sort of class, some sort of Introduction-to-technology-for-idiots, to get myself in the know…
  9. Culinary goal… something French? Hubbs and I were in Paris once and there was this adorable little bakery around the corner from our hostel that had ‘Brioche Suisse’, and it was braided.. I can’t find a recipe for it like that anywhere.  I was also thinking of Pain Chocolat… Recipes welcome…
  10. Learn to play chess. SMRT.
  11. Plan NZ trip. Hubbs and I are going to New Zealand in March for some dear friends’ wedding (which I get to partake in!  Woot!) and as he has always been the planner of our travels, I would like to step up and map it out.  Plus, this way I can rope in a stop somewhere like Bora Bora on the way, wink.  Never mind the zillions of cash it costs, that we don’t have.  Minor details.  ;)
  12. Fire a gun Admit it, you all dream of being a Bond girl too.
  13. Read another classic…
  14. See another classic…
  15. Find new charity to donate to. Something I really believe in- ideas?
  16. Tile the basement.  Without Hubbs. This is a point of contention for us.  Hubbs is really great at ‘starting’ projects… hence the basement floor has been bare concrete for longer than I’d like to admit.  I figure I’ll just set out and do it myself one day.  It can’t be that hard, right?
  17. Develop ‘code’.  You know how people have those ‘codes to live by’, things they come back to in times of difficulty to help make the right decision?  I need one.  I make bad decisions.
  18. Learn to feel sexy in own skin. Likely an impossible feat for most women, me included.
  19. Attend a church service…  that I get something out of, that inspires me.  That doesn’t make me want to either a) blow my head off from boredom or b) writhe in guilt at being a horrible sinner bound to burn in hell for all eternity.
  20. Set dental plans in motion. This sounds so lame.  I know.  But I have mean teeth… I am so good to them, flossing and brushing round the clock, and they just continue to fill full of cavities, requiring root canals and crowns and the whole kit and caboodle.  Obviously, these appointments are no fun and I’ve been putting them off for YEARS.  So.  Time’s up.
  21. Visit historical/monumental site in Calgary.  Suggestions?
  22. Grow something. From seeds.  And not kill it.
  23. Travel… both alone and with people.
  24. Get blog up and running.  Seems redundant, but see #8
  25. Learn to knit and make something other than a scarf.
  26. Run a 10k. I could do 5k once upon a time… anyone know of any upcoming races in the city?
  27. .
  28.
  29.
  30. Go to University Move out Get married Have baby!  I don’t care if it’s cheating – I’m counting em.

  8. Good morning!
What a lovely blog, I love the sweet layout and the concept is darling. Thanks very much for passing by mine, and for leaving me that wonderful comment! I hope to hear from you again soon <3
In response to this entertaining post of yours:
    2. I've recently been reading my way through all of my favorite classics. Wuthering Heights is a wonderful read.
    3. Gone with the Wind and Casablanca are two must-sees that I think you'll enjoy.
    9. This sounds like brioche tressée to me! Tressée, in French, simply means "braid". The recipe is here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Braided-Egg-Bread/Detail.aspx
18 is entirely achievable. The next time your husband smiles at you, look at yourself through his eyes. You are a beautiful woman, even moreso because you brought such a perfect, beautiful being into this world :)
    25. Try "Norwegian house slippers". They were one of my earliest projects as they're very easy, but NOT a scarf! hahaha.

    Have a great day lady!
